At Ship 2026 Vercel announced Python as generally available, Daemons in public beta, and Drives, generally available for Sandbox. By Vercel's figures, deployments triggered by agents rose 28-fold in 12 months.
- 15 October 2026: Vercel published its Ship 2026 recap. Python is generally available (FastAPI, Flask, Django), Daemons for background workers is in public beta, Drives for Sandbox is generally available.
- Token Pass is in early access for Pro teams only: $80 in GLM 5.3 and Kimi K3 token credit for $30 a month. Not for everyone.
- By Vercel's figures over 12 months: there are 3 times as many developers, new projects have doubled, and agent-triggered deployments are up 28-fold. The recap gives no prices for Daemons or Drives.
Three labels from Vercel's Ship 2026 recap tell you what you get today: generally available, beta, early access. Don't mix them up.
Python is the most finished of the three: generally available. FastAPI, Flask and Django run on standard CPython, with PyPI, uv and pyproject.toml. With Vercel Services, frontend and backend deploy together, with previews of the full app.
Daemons is for the process nobody watches until it stops: the background worker. Behind every stage there is someone who swaps the burnt-out bulb before the audience notices. Daemons puts that job on automatic: Vercel keeps the instances running and replaces them if they fail. But it's beta.
Drives are for the agent. Code, data and saved memory survive across runs, and the runtime or compute can be swapped without rebuilding the workspace. They are generally available, but only for Sandbox. Token Pass is the narrowest: early access, Pro teams only. Vercel promises more models soon.
The number Vercel put in front of all this is about agents. Over 12 months, by its own data, deployments triggered by agents rose 28-fold. Next to it the company puts two more and offers them as proof that developers aren't disappearing: there are 3 times as many of them, and new projects have doubled. You can see the direction from here: the agent ships the code and needs somewhere to live between runs.
The recap gives no price for Daemons or Drives. Until it does, you can't work out whether to move your workers.
