On 9 October Vercel announced that all Pro teams will pay $0.10 per GB-month to store deployments and functions. Each team learns by email when its billing starts. The deletion date is the same for everyone: 23 October, unless you change the setting before then.
- 9 October 2026: Vercel announced that Deployment Storage and Functions Storage billing begins for all Pro teams, at $0.10 per GB-month. Vercel tells each team by email exactly when billing starts for it.
- The deployment retention window becomes 30 days. Starting 23 October, older deployments are deleted unless you opt out in your settings before then; deleted deployments cannot be restored or used for rollback. Settings already at 30 days or shorter are unchanged.
- The reason, in Vercel's words: coding agents have accelerated development and deployments have become more frequent. New Pro teams now start with 30 days by default.
You roll your site back to the version from two months ago with a few clicks. That is rollback on Vercel, and until 23 October it works the way you know it. After that date, deployments older than 30 days start being deleted, unless you say otherwise in your settings first.
23 October is the day of the deletion. The bill is separate: the announcement gives no common billing date, and Vercel emails each Pro team when it starts for that team.
Anyone who has kept a warehouse of sets from past events knows that bill: nothing in there ever goes on stage, and the rent runs every month. Old deployments are the same warehouse, with one difference: sometimes that is exactly where you pull out the version that saves the night.
Why now, Vercel says plainly: coding agents. With them, deployments have become more frequent and the stored history has grown. The same day Vercel also let agents buy domains through its CLI, and there the money explicitly waits for your confirmation. Deployment storage has no such confirmation: every deployment you keep goes into the bill.
You decide by 23 October, in your team's retention settings. If you roll back to versions older than a month, extend the window and accept that the space is paid for. If you don't, keep the 30 days and look at the Usage page: it shows which project is piling up space.
