How to report an error
If you find an error in a fact, a date, a source or a wording, write to hello@wearecoded.com. We take every report seriously.
What we record in a correction
The date of the correction; what was wrong; what was changed; whether the conclusion changes. Pure typo fixes are not recorded here.
Log
- 1 October 2026Media reported a deal for all of Boston Dynamics. On 16 July Hyundai announced it officially, without a price.
The headline said "The companies stay silent". That stopped being true on 16 July 2026, when Hyundai Motor Group officially announced that it is pursuing SoftBank's entire stake in Boston Dynamics. The statement gives no price or percentage. The headline has been changed, and the story is now linked to our 21 September story on Atlas at Hyundai's plant.
- 1 October 2026Ubuntu patched a pile of holes in Apache - the kind of fix nobody notices until it's too late
We wrote that USN-8516-1 fixes 14 vulnerabilities. Ubuntu's notice contains 12 CVEs. The number was corrected in the dek, the fact box, the brief and the short title, and all 12 CVE numbers were added. The conclusion (you update) doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026Together AI raised $800M, the open-model cloud swelled to $8.3B
We wrote that Together AI had raised $1.3 billion in total, and the Prosperity7 quote was rendered inaccurately. The $1.3 billion figure isn't in the official texts and was removed; the quote was replaced with the real one from the press release. The sentence saying Meta 'started selling compute last week' was corrected: that is a Bloomberg report from the same day, which Meta doesn't confirm. The conclusion doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026Insurer discloses breach, data on millions of customers leaked
We claimed there were signs the breach was the work of the same attacker group. That isn't in any official source and was removed. In its place we added the access dates (15 to 25 June) from Aflac's 8-K filing with the SEC and the figure of about 4.38 million affected customers from Aflac Japan's statement, as cited by MLex. The conclusion about the scale doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026Jeff Dean left Google after 27 years and started Discovery Loop
We wrote that Discovery Loop is incorporated in Delaware. That isn't in any official source (Sundar Pichai's letter and Discovery Loop's site), only in TechCrunch. 'Delaware' was removed and Google's letter is now the primary source. The conclusion doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026They cloned her voice, then someone's claims hit her recordings
The text merged two separate incidents into one: the AI covers on the singer's Spotify profile (January 2026) and the Content ID claims against her YouTube videos (25 March, through the distributor Vydia). We also claimed the covers were uploaded through a distributor and that the claims took down the original recordings. According to Music Business Worldwide the incidents are separate, the claims redirect revenue and have since been released, and the cloning is the singer's own guess. The headline, dek and text were corrected. The conclusion about the weakness of the claims system doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026AI video in a single pass: 30 seconds with no stitching
We claimed Seedance 2.5 makes 30 seconds of video in native 4K, accepts 3D references, that an enterprise beta was live and that the public launch was in early July. The official Volcano Engine and ByteDance Seed pages confirm the 30 seconds and the 50 references, but don't mention 4K (they list 480p, 720p and 1080p), 3D references or an enterprise beta; the official launch came on 31 July. The headline, dek and text were corrected and the official sources added. The conclusion about control through references doesn't change.
- 1 October 2026Bloomberg reports Meta will sell compute power. Meta declined to comment.
The headline and text presented it as done fact that Meta had started selling its compute power. The story rests on a Bloomberg report citing unnamed sources; Meta declined to comment and there's no official announcement. The story was rewritten as a report, not as fact.
- 13 July 2026
SCMP reports that Alibaba banned Claude Code. Alibaba declined to comment.: The headline and dek presented the Claude Code ban at Alibaba and the 'hidden code' claims as established fact, while the whole story rests on an internal directive quoted by the South China Morning Post; Alibaba declined to comment and Anthropic has not confirmed. The story was rewritten as a report, not as fact.
- 13 July 2026Media reported a deal for all of Boston Dynamics. On 16 July Hyundai announced it officially, without a price.
We presented as done fact that Hyundai is buying out SoftBank's remaining 9.65% and becoming the sole owner of Boston Dynamics. As of 13 July 2026 no such deal has been announced officially by either side and the only sources are media reports. The headline, dek and text were rewritten as a report, not as fact.
- 13 July 2026
The Suno lawsuit is not going to a hearing on the merits. We got it wrong.: We claimed the Suno lawsuit was heading to a hearing this summer that would decide whether training on protected music is 'fair use'. That is false: the court docket (CourtListener, checked 9 July 2026) shows a procedural conference on discovery disputes, not a hearing on the merits, and the schedule has slipped.
- 1 July 2026
Colorado AI Act ('The first state AI law in the US'): It was wrong that the obligations under SB24-205 apply from 1 February 2026. The change: in May 2026 SB26-189 repealed and re-enacted the provisions; the new regime (ADMT) takes effect on 1 January 2027. The conclusion about the direction (a narrow law focused on discrimination) does NOT change - the date and the scope do. Official Colorado sources added.
