Bulgaria is on the list. Between Brunei Darussalam and Burkina Faso, in a long run of countries that Spotify put at the very bottom of its 7 October announcement.

The facts: on 7 October 2026, at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Spotify announced that by the end of 2026 it is expanding audiobooks from 22 to more than 180 markets. According to the company that is more than 750 million people who will soon be able to stream or buy books, with more than 350,000 titles in more than 120 languages, including new catalogs in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish and more. Bulgaria is on the list of markets where audiobooks will be available by the end of 2026. There are three ways in: 12 hours a month included in Premium for eligible subscribers (stated explicitly for Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, Norway and Peru "and more"), the Audiobooks+ add-on for extra hours, and direct purchase of a title. Spotify says availability and pricing vary by market, and its partnerships are non-exclusive. What is new in Page Match is page numbers: you scan the ISBN barcode of the print book and find your place in the audio by page number. According to Spotify, since February more than one million readers have used Page Match to move between print, e-book and audio, and the feature works in more than 30 languages. Again according to the company, Audiobooks+ has more than one million subscribers and more than 100 million dollars in annual recurring revenue, and monthly audiobook listeners grew by nearly 40% over the year.

But the list says where, not how. Bulgaria is not among the ten countries for which Spotify explicitly says they get the 12 hours in Premium. Nor is it among the markets where Audiobooks+ is the main route: Africa, Asia and Argentina. What is left is "and more" and one sentence saying that availability and pricing vary by market.

The list says where. It does not say how.

So do not read it as "from today". The deadline is the end of the year, and there is no price. Bulgarian books are not promised either: the new catalogs Spotify names are in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Polish, and more.

Look at your app at the end of November and again at the end of December. When a section with audiobooks shows up in Bulgaria, the price will be there too, and then you will see whether you get in with Premium, with the add-on or only by buying.
