On July 9, Meta Superintelligence Labs announced Muse Spark 1.1 - a reasoning model for agentic tasks, available for the first time through its own public API. According to media reports, the price is about a quarter of comparable models. The third Muse in a week. Time to sort out the names.
- Muse Spark 1.1 was announced on July 9, 2026: a multimodal reasoning model for agentic tasks, not an image generator.
- A context window of 1 million tokens with active management: the model remembers what it's done and compresses context so it doesn't choke.
- Available for the first time through the new Meta Model API (public preview). The price, according to media reports, is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens.
Meta Superintelligence Labs announced an upgrade to its agentic model - Muse Spark 1.1. The second announcement with the word Muse in a week. The second different thing behind it.
Don't be fooled by the headline - what's new here isn't another agentic model with an impressive table. As a builder I look at the bill at the end of the month: Meta is opening its own API and entering the price war from below. If the price holds up, it's that which moves work, not the benchmark. And as a designer I watch something else - Meta is now selling three different things under one word. You won't know by the name which does what, and the brand has stopped working for you and started serving the company's internal organization instead.
Let's sort the names. Muse (July 7) is the image and video generator. Muse Spark (April) was the early reasoning model. Muse Spark 1.1 (July 9) is today's upgrade to the agentic model and doesn't draw anything. See just Muse mentioned somewhere? Ask which of the three it is before you pull out a key or a card.
