On 28 September Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta Enterprise Platform, "the next major pillar" of Meta's business. At first it will bring the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code to companies. Chirantan "CJ" Desai takes charge, reporting directly to Zuckerberg.
- Meta wants to bring companies not only advertising but its AI stack: models, agents, infrastructure.
- Desai comes from MongoDB; before that he was at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow.
- There are no prices, dates or markets in the announcement. It announces a direction and an appointment.
Meta has made money from businesses for a long time, mostly one way: it sells them the attention of the people in its apps.
Now it wants to sell them work as well. Agents, models, infrastructure, the same things it already runs for itself, packaged for other companies.
The choice of person says more than the announcement. Per the announcement his career is in software for companies: databases, networks, workflows. You hire someone like that when you want big companies to buy from you, with purchase orders and contracts.
Prices, dates, markets - none of it is there. The text announces a direction and an appointment. I write as much as there is.
