The glasses weigh under 95 grams. But that is not the whole device. Processing and the battery sit in a separate module Google calls a compute puck, tied to the glasses by a cable. That is what the first Android XR glasses look like: light in front, on a cable behind.
Fact
The facts: on 28 October 2026, Google announced XREAL Aura - “the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR”. The field of view is 70 degrees, the glasses weigh under 95 grams, and the heavy processing sits in a separate compute puck connected by a cable. Pricing is “launch pricing starting at USD 1,099 through the end of the year”. Orders are open from the day of the announcement in the U.S., Canada and Korea, and from 2 November in Japan. In the U.S., orders through BestBuy.com ship from mid-November. Google also says the glasses get apps from Google Play, over 150 of them made for XR, and a mode called Wired Mirroring: a laptop with USB-C video output shows up as a window you can resize, with no software to install. Setup and a compatible account are required, and buyers must be 18+. We did not open a page from XREAL: everything here is per Google. Source: Google, 28 October 2026.
I know this arrangement from events: what the audience sees is light and pretty, and the generator sits out back. Here the generator is the module, and the cable to it is in plain sight.
Under 95 grams is only half of the device.
The $1,099 price is a launch price and runs through the end of the year. What happens after that, Google does not say. It does not say when the glasses leave the countries in the announcement either: the U.S., Canada, Japan and Korea.
Europe is missing. For now this is news, not a purchase.
