On 29 September Stripe said that Meta's Muse, Grok Bot and Instinct now pay with Link's wallet for agents, and that agentic purchases through it grew 38 times in a month, per the company. Three things are added: flexible approval of the amount, spending analysis and protection if the agent gets it wrong.
- Incremental authorisation lets the agent raise the approved amount instead of restarting the purchase.
- With permission the agent can see your purchase history, to recommend better.
- Purchase protection when the agent makes a mistake: Muse is the first to offer it.
You book a flight through the agent. Then you remember the checked bag.
Until now that meant a second purchase or a new hold on the card. Link now lets the agent raise the approved amount instead of starting over. Sounds like a detail. Details like that are where a purchase falls apart at the checkout.
The most important of the three is the protection. Not because of the amount, but because of the order: the first question from anyone you offer an agent to shop for them is "and if it gets it wrong?". Now there is an answer, at least for eligible purchases and at least in Link.
The second piece of news is quieter and heavier. An agent that reads your purchase history to recommend a shop is a very good salesman. With your permission, Stripe writes, and with the right to revoke it at any time; it is worth remembering that you gave it.
