If your company has a committed spend with Google Cloud, OpenAI's models can be paid for out of it. For select customers only, and for now only in preview.
Fact
The facts: on October 21, 2026, Google Cloud announced it is adding OpenAI's models to its model garden, its catalog of models. There are three: GPT-6 Astra, for demanding work in coding, computer use, professional tasks and scientific research; GPT-6.1 Sol, which Google describes as “near-Astra intelligence at lower cost”; and GPT-6 Luna, a fast, cost-efficient model for everyday work at scale. They are rolling out as a private preview to select enterprise customers, with more “coming soon”. They are bought directly through Google Cloud Marketplace: all usage appears on a single Google Cloud invoice, draws down existing cloud commitments and counts toward Flexible Savings Plans. Google says prompts, context and outputs stay within the customer's designated data perimeter and are never used to train foundation models; Zero Data Retention (ZDR) options and Confidential Compute are listed as “coming soon”. OpenAI's own page from the same day says general availability is planned “in the coming weeks” and that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner. The claim that Google Cloud is the only hyperscale provider offering access to all three leading closed-source models is Google's.
The money is the quietest part of the story. One invoice means one contract instead of two. I know from events how it goes: a supplier who comes in through an already approved contract gets a yes in a day, a new one waits for weeks.
The model is new to the catalog. The money is old.
Except this is a preview for a select few. Zero data retention and confidential compute sit in the “coming soon” column. Google gives no prices, no regions, no date for general availability. OpenAI offers the nearest thing: “in the coming weeks”. That is a company plan, not a date.
One more line from OpenAI's page: Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner, and Google Cloud is one more entrance to the same models.
If your data is sensitive, wait for zero data retention to leave the “coming soon” column, and fill in the interest form now.
