RTX Spark laptops are open for preorder from 7 October and on sale from 16 October, and Microsoft Execution Containers for agents are generally available on Windows 11. Neither page gives a price.
- 7 October 2026, a Microsoft event in San Francisco: NVIDIA opened preorders for RTX Spark laptops, on sale from 16 October; compact desktops come in November.
- According to NVIDIA: up to 128 GB of unified memory and 1 petaflop of FP4. Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) become generally available on Windows 11 and limit which files and networks agents can reach.
- DGX Station for Windows is only a preview: Microsoft says it comes later this year, with no exact date and no price.
Memory is one half. The lock is the other.
On 7 October NVIDIA and Microsoft put both on one stage in San Francisco, with Jensen Huang and Satya Nadella. The direction is clear: the agent lives on your computer, not only in someone else's data center.
Every number for the chip comes from NVIDIA. One of them explains why anyone talks about a local agent at all: 128 GB of unified memory. A big model needs room, and an ordinary laptop does not have it. Microsoft writes that Surface Laptop Ultra can run models of more than 120 billion parameters locally.
The lock is the more interesting half. Microsoft says earlier sandboxes were not built for agents, because the need for limits can change with every prompt and every tool the agent calls. MXC puts rules on files and network, and Windows also gives the agent its own identity, so you can see which agent did what. Among the supporters already are OpenAI's Codex, GitHub Copilot, OpenClaw, Replit and LM Studio; Claude Code is on the list of those Microsoft expects to add support.
Running Windows machines? Start with MXC: see what file and network rules it can put on the agent you already use. The laptop can wait for a price.
