Isomorphic Labs showed IsoDDE - the system doubles AlphaFold 3's accuracy and finds hidden drug-binding sites from the protein sequence alone.
- Isomorphic Labs introduced IsoDDE: a single system for drug design that goes beyond AlphaFold 3 (10 February).
- More than doubles AlphaFold 3's accuracy on the hardest test for new protein-ligand systems.
- Finds hidden binding sites from protein sequence alone, without an experimental crystal structure.
IsoDDE doesn't stop where AlphaFold 3 stopped. That one predicted structure. IsoDDE designs the drug itself. It's built by the team of Demis Hassabis - the founder of Google DeepMind, who struck out on his own with Isomorphic Labs.
For a long time 'AI in biology' meant one thing - predict the structure. IsoDDE moves the bar past that, to the design of the drug itself. It finds binding pockets that stay invisible until the molecule opens them.
If this holds up in real trials, the cost and time of a drug's early stage drop sharply. It's not a miracle cure. It changes the question you can even ask. Tools like that get remembered.
The results are from Isomorphic Labs' own internal tests and benchmarks; they haven't gone through independent clinical trials yet.
