Fusion Max scored within two points of Opus 5.5 Max, at half the cost and 40% less time per task. The number is GitHub's. The post doesn't give the test conditions.

Fact

The facts: on 28 October 2026, GitHub announced new things in Copilot at Universe 2026. Copilot Fusion evaluates what a task needs - reasoning, code generation, debugging and tool use. By GitHub's data, Fusion Max scored within two points of Opus 5.5 Max at half the cost and 40% less time per task. The GitHub Copilot app is described as designed from the ground up for agentic software delivery. Copilot projects runs agent work across several repositories in parallel managed sessions and is in the app from 28 October. A cloud agent session can be started and followed across the GitHub app, VS Code, the CLI and the web. Code review Max posted the highest F1 score on ReviewBench for high-severity issues, again by GitHub's data. GitHub Enterprise customers can, from the same day, use all Copilot features without a separate subscription and pay for the AI credits they use. It is available through GitHub Sales, and self-serve is announced as coming soon. For Fusion and for the app itself, the announcement gives no availability.

Until now in Copilot you picked a model from the menu or left it to auto selection. You pick, you own the consequences. Fusion evaluates what the task needs - reasoning, code, debugging or tools. Convenient. Until review asks which model wrote that line.

Choosing the model is no longer only yours.

The other news is quieter and closer to the bill. GitHub Enterprise customers no longer buy Copilot separately; they pay for the AI credits they use. What a credit costs, the post doesn't say. Self-serve is coming "soon", with no date; for now the door is GitHub Sales.

Of the whole announcement, two things start right away: Copilot projects and the Enterprise pricing. The rest is waiting for a date.
