On October 15 Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein with open weights: text-to-image, editing and up to 10 reference images. By the company's account the INT8 build runs on NVIDIA RTX cards with as little as 8GB of VRAM. The license is free for commercial use of outputs under 5 million dollars in annual revenue.
- October 15, 2026: Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein, an open weights model with 5.6 billion parameters for text-to-image, editing and generation from up to 10 reference images, with native 4K and bounding boxes that control where an element goes.
- The generator weights take 11.2 GB in BF16 and 5.6 GB in FP8. With the INT8 build the model runs on NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards with as little as 8GB of VRAM. By BFL's account a 1MP image takes about 4 seconds on an RTX 5090 and under 9 on an RTX 4070.
- The FLUX Kommunity License allows free commercial use of outputs if the annual revenue of the user and its affiliates is under 5 million dollars. Larger organizations use the model through self-hosted licenses or the API. The first-place rankings are internal, BFL's own.
The INT8 build of FLUX 3 Image Klein needs 8GB of VRAM, by Black Forest Labs' account.
This is a consumer card, not a server. The model reaches your desk.
Quality is the other half, and it is an internal ranking. BFL says that in its own tests the model ranks first in text-to-image, in generation from references and in editing, ahead of larger open weights models. Against FLUX.2 [klein] 9B it gains 91 Elo in text-to-image and 70 in editing, with 38% fewer parameters. The announcement has no outside test. So far it's a self-assessment.
That leaves the license. Under 5 million dollars in annual revenue, commercial use of outputs is free. Above that, the way in is a self-hosted license or the BFL API.
The same prompt through the INT8 build and through the model you use now, on the same card, will tell you more than BFL's internal evaluations. Above 5 million dollars in annual revenue, the conversation with BFL comes first.
