The ECB's public survey on the ten finalists closed on 21 September with 9.96 million responses. That is 2.6% of the euro area population. The design decision is expected around the end of 2026, and the new banknotes should enter circulation gradually from the early 2030s.

On 22 September Anthropic released Opus 5.5, the first model in the 5.5 family. The token price drops by 20%, cached input by 60%, and per the company the model also spends fewer tokens per task. Two API changes can break requests that used to work.

The two cheaper models in the GPT-6 family came out on 22 September. Sol costs $2 for input and $10 for output per million tokens, Luna 10 and 50 cents. Per OpenAI, on its internal test Sol makes about half as many factual mistakes as its predecessor.

The urgent release of 22 September fixes CVE-2026-87902: an attacker with no password can make WordPress load a chosen PHP file from the server. With certain themes and server settings this can lead to remote code execution. The fix has been backported all the way to version 4.7.

On 22 September CISA added three critical vulnerabilities to its catalogue of actively exploited ones. Check Point confirms attacks and has patches for both of its own. Arista says the hosted versions of VeloCloud Orchestrator are already patched, while for customer-installed ones fixes exist so far only for some release trains.

FLUX 3 Action is a 7-billion-parameter model derived from Black Forest Labs' video and image generator. Per the company it leads the RoboLab-120 ranking with less than half the parameters of the previous best open model. The weights are free for research, and commercial use needs a separate licence.

On 21 September SpaceXAI released Grok 4.7: a new, larger base model, trained for longer, weighted toward tasks that take hours, at the same price as Grok 4.6. In the company's own table Fable 5.1 stays ahead on CursorBench and in the terminal, but it costs several times more.

The Irish regulator has closed an inquiry it opened in February 2020 after complaints from consumer organisations. Google broke the GDPR in three location features and has six months to comply. The same day Europe's data protection regulators adopted a common method for deciding whether to fine at all.

Qwen's new image model has 7 billion parameters in its generation component, makes transparent images and takes up to 10 reference pictures. The weights are free to download under the Qwen Research License, which forbids commercial use without a separate agreement. Alongside it Alibaba released Qwen3.8-Omni-Flash, but announced that one through its cloud, without open weights.
