On 13 August the exploitation field for CVE-2026-73570 read one word: none. On 21 August CISA added it to the catalogue of actively exploited vulnerabilities, with a deadline of 24 August. The hole lets an attacker without a password run commands on the mail server.

On 20 August GitHub published a post-mortem of the 17 August failure, which held the platform down for seven hours and 47 minutes and took out github.com, authentication, Actions, APIs and Copilot. Per the company the cause was not a change in code or configuration but capacity that did not arrive in time.

On 20 August Mistral announced Agentic Search: instead of a one-off retrieval of text chunks, the model gets five tools and digs through the documents itself until it finds. Per the company, accuracy on filings to the US market regulator jumps from 26.7 to 86 percent, without a single line of fine-tuning.

The first text, by Dean Ball, argues that the heaviest long-term risk is the concentration of power: a state that can project force without cooperating soldiers and clerks. Above it stands a note that this is the author's opinion and does not commit the company.

On 20 August three packages by the same author in the Rust registry come out with a new dependency whose build script downloads and runs a malicious payload during compilation. They were deleted within an hour and a half to two hours. The maintainer's account is locked - the Rust team believes their computer or their access credentials were taken over.
