On 8 September CISA listed four vulnerabilities as actively exploited. The one closest to online shops is in Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source: code execution without login, rated 10.0 by Adobe, patched the day before. Next to it sit N-able N-central and two local Windows flaws.

On 6 September OpenAI wrote that it has an automated research intern and that its research organisation now uses, in total, 3.1 agent-workdays for every human one. The same day its chief scientist Jakub Pachocki published an essay saying no lab has solved alignment well enough to keep going at full speed for much longer.

On 5 September CERT Polska said two of the six flaws it found in RouterOS are being combined to take full control of routers with SSH open to the internet. The fixes were announced on 3 September, and the successful attacks go back to at least 2 September.

On 4 September Anthropic published a proof of Fermat's Last Theorem checked end to end in Lean. Claude worked largely on its own for 11 days, wrote 13 million lines and proved 29,500 intermediate theorems used in the final result. The community expected the formalisation to take years.

On 3 September Google released Chrome 152 with 12 security fixes. For CVE-2026-85046, a type confusion in V8, the company writes that an exploit already exists in the wild. On 4 September CISA added it to the KEV catalogue with a deadline of 18 September.

On 3 September OpenAI announced Daybreak for Frontline Defenders: $1 billion in subsidised access to its Daybreak cyber models, training and support, targeted to be used over the next six months. Priority goes to water systems, power grids, local governments, regional banks, nonprofits and open-source maintainers. It starts in the US.
